Animals, Awards, and May Updates

This has been a busy season of my life. Grad school. Volunteering. Job hunting. Weddings. New members of the family (through the wedding to clarify… no little ones on the way!)

This is long overdue, but I wanted to thank RipuAncestor from The Fey of Life for nominating me for the Animal Award. (To see the nomination post, click here.) I am honored to be nominated.

I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with RipuAncestor on the forums and following her lovely fairytale Sims story (and her other blog, The Chrysanthemum Tango). I haven’t caught up on the reading yet (as I’m swamped with things), but she is a talented writing so if you have the opportunity, please check out her blogs.

The rules for the Animal Award Acceptance are as follows:

About Me 

I am a writer, graduate student, and wife. I currently live in the Midwest with a lovely view of the Rockies, but I have lived on both coasts. I still think of myself as a noob when it comes to The Sims, but I guess I’ve been at this writing/playing bit for over 2 years now.

After a particularly dark period in my life, I discovered my love of Sims storytelling and subsequently learned to love writing again. The Sims has helped me hone my skills, get into the habit of writing regularly, and put my stuff out there for the world instead of hoarding it on my laptop. The Krazy Crazy Life of Kassiopeia Fullbright started as a fun pet project and blossomed into something deeper. I have fallen in love with Kass and my immense cast of characters in the Simworld and I’m grateful for the opportunity to tell her story week after week.

My Animal 

If I could be any animal, I’d be a cat.

1. I like my sleep.
2.  I am independent and enjoy my alone time. I am comfortable with spending time with just myself and need time to recharge after being around people.
3. I still recognize my need for others on occasion – for sustenance and companionship.
4. I am curious about life in general, and sometimes this gets me into trouble.
5. I am drawn to the darkness. I like sitting alone in the dark to think. I enjoy the beauty of the night. I enjoy uncovering what is hidden and unknown.

I would like to nominate (in alphabetical order)… 

Cathy Tea’s SimLit Anthology by Cathy Tea I enjoy her writing style – peaceful, deep, flowing. I always feel like I’ve met a friend when I read her work. There’s something for everyone here on her wonderful collection of Sims stories. I particularly recommend her Thirty Sims at Three Rivers stories or the Goofy Love Legacy. 

Edith Prescott Mystery Series by Rachel A thoroughly enjoyable mystery series (partially inspiring my idea to write my own mystery Sims stories) with a dash of humor, a healthy splash of realism, and a quirky lovable protagonist to follow. 

Eight Cicadas by Trip. A dark and mysterious journey through the lives of Annette Waverly, and her subsequent heirs, intertwined with the criminal Racket family in Twinbrook. I’m warning you. It’s addictive. 

Life is for Living by Derubelle.  I’m a sucker for mystery stories, of course, and the author doesn’t disappoint. An intriguing adventure for the protagonist, a “seemingly spoiled” teenager named Michael, in a house with a mysterious past. 

Listening to My Heart by Sandybeachgirl. A multi-generational legacy-esque story. Amanda, first generation, is an endearing protagonist, full of love in her heart, adjusting to her new life in the country. The story is delightful.  

[Para]Normal Neighborhood by CitizenErased14. You can’t help but adore the goofy, naive Juniper and her wacky adventures in her [para]normal neighborhood full of interesting characters like aliens, werewolves, ghosts, and of course, a fresh and unique take on the Grim Reaper.

The Goddess Order and Color My World by iKelsey Technically this is two different stories I’m nominating. I’ve been a lurker on her blog… I must confess… but I have enjoyed the intriguing stories she creates. The Goddess Order is an unusual enchanting twist on the 100 Baby Challenge (and she pulls it off seamlessly) and Color My World is a berry Sim story that will definitely pull on your heart strings. 

Surreal Darkness by MedleyMisty Beautifully written, poetical, following two mysterious genderless beings on their journey through an unusual, but intriguing take on the Sims worlds. I can’t get enough of her work – although it takes me forever to read (but that’s because she leaves me savoring every bit to its fullest). 

Zahra’s 100 Baby Challenge by LauraEliza A fun baby challenge story following Zahra, in the beautiful snowy world of Vargfjell and now her daughter, Hope in the sunny Evansdale County. Zahra is a sweet mother, and it was easy to fall in love with her character, and of course, I’m partial to Hope for being a redhead 😉 

…I wasn’t sure if my two stories by iKelsey counted as 1 or 2 so I’m nominating a completed story as my 10th (or 11th depending on how you look at it). In the Valley of the Sun by MedleyMisty I really couldn’t get enough of this story and I binged it in about a day and a half once I got past the 1st chapter. MedleyMisty does a fantastic job of keeping you guessing in her story set in the nothing-is-what-it-seems Sunset Valley with just the right amount of horror to keep you up all night wondering… and her Seth character is the perfect blend of creepy and intriguing.

• I’m taking the week off from writing KFLL (possibly two – although I haven’t decided yet) to give you some fresh content and because I really need to get back into playing the game.
